FSUE "RIHTOP" FMBA Russia 

Research Institute of Hygiene, Toxicology, and Occupational Pathology (RIHTOP) is under authority of Federal Medical-Biological Agency. In its turn the latter is under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation (Presidential Decree No. 1304 of 11 October 2004).


Activities of the RIHTOP:
  • scientific activity in conformity with the RIHTOP objectives;
  • business work;
  • external economic activity that is not in conflict with character of the Institute activities;
  • medical activity.

Current Events


    On October 9, 2015

       

    
     In accordance with 2015 FMBA Russia Plan of main activities, Research and Practice Conference “Safety of chemical plants. Medical and hygienic problems” was held by the FSUE RIHTOP FMBA Russia (Federal State Unitary Enterprise Research Institute of Hygiene, Toxicology and Occupational Pathology at Federal Medical and Biological Agency) on 8-9 October 2015 for the purpose of professional development of specialists from scientific, medical treatment and medical preventive institutions, and for the review of the best national and international practices in new technologies implementation.
     The Federal Medical and Biological Agency acted as an initiating body and FSUE RIHTOP FMBA Russia hosted the conference.
     The conference was devoted to safety issues relating to extremely hazardous chemical plants. The conference papers were discussed during 2 days within the following 3 sessions: “Hygienic and environmental aspects of engineering, construction and operation of hazardous and extremely hazardous chemical productions”, “Medical aspects of safety monitoring of works on chemical weapon destruction, as well as that of production of propellants, explosives and powders”, “Toxicity assessment and hygienic standardization of hazardous and extremely hazardous chemicals. Methods for sanitary and chemical control of industrial and natural environment”.
     Representatives of Russian research organizations, FMBA Russia interregional directorates and FMBA Russia health care institutions from Volgograd, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Altai Territory, Moscow, Saratov, Penza, Kirov and Nizhny Novgorod Regions, and of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation participated in the conference.
     Boris N. Filatov, RIHTOP Director, Doctor of Medical Science, Professor, addressed the participants with words of welcome. He also noted the importance and urgency of the issues under consideration.
     The submitted papers aroused a keen interest of the audience, thus demonstrating the applicability of the current tasks. 29 papers were submitted and discussed.
     In conclusion, Alexander N. Grebenyuk, Doctor of Medical Science, Professor, Chief Toxicologist-Radiologist of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, spoke up for the audience, thanked the hosts of the conference and called the participants to take an active part in addressing future research tasks.
     A book of abstracts was published.

    8 -9 October, 2015 FSUE RIHTOP FMBA Russia will hold the research-and-practice conference "Safery of chemical facilities. Medical and hygienic problems"

     A civil defense exercise under the guidance of RIHTOP’s Director, Boris N. Filatov, was carried out on 23 April 2015. Georgiy V. Koryakin, Head of the Civil Defense and Emergency Unit, held the exercise according with FSUE RIHTOP FMBA Russia Plan of Main Activities in the Area of Civil Defense, Emergency Prevention and Control, and Fire Safety. Representatives of the Volgograd Administration Civil Protection Committee attended the exercise. Fire building evacuation drill of personnel was conducted, as well as that of handling of fire-fighting equipment.
     Civil defense and emergency training is the most effective way for an organization to prepare for emergency response. Such training allows personnel to practice adequate measures with regard to the specific character of manufacturing, particularities of spatial location of a facility, and other factors specific to this facility.

Boris Nikolayevich have answered the questions and have told about current Institute’s activity and about challenges in the field of human health are relevant to Russia today.

        In honor of Health Professional Day, the grand meeting was held in the Assembly Hall of RIHTOP FMBA Russia on June 19, 2015. Traditionally, Boris N. Filatov, Director, wished the best of well-being, stability, and continued success in future endeavours to RIHTOP’s staff.
    Awards were presented at the close of the official part of the meeting.
    The following staff members were awarded Federal Medical and Biological Agency Certificates of Honor for their long-lasting and diligent work: Natalya V. Krylova, Leading Researcher of the Occupational Health Laboratory; Olga M. Levchenko, Head of the Maintenance and Supply Department; Valentina Yu. Shapochkina, Designer of the Information Technology Laboratory.
    17 staff members were awarded RIHTOP Certificates of Honor and 8 staff members received RIHTOP Director’s Honorary Mention.
    All the honorees received appropriate cash bonuses.


    On September 23-24, 2014

       

    
     The scientific conference with international participation titled “Nanotoxicology: progress, problems, prospects” was organized by FSUE “RIHTOP” at FMBA, Russia. The conference was held in Volgograd on September 23-24, 2014.
     The conference was devoted to discussion of actual scientific issues related to production and using of nanoparticles and nanomaterials, assuring safety of their production, ecological-hygienic problems, hazard of unauthorized application, assurance of drug safety in the context of nanoparticles or medical products based on nanoparticles using.
     The conference was attended by representatives of Russian R&D organizations from Volgograd, Moscow, St.Petersburg, Saratov, and foreign companies from Netherlands and USA. The company Metris B.V. (Netherlands) presented to conference’s participants the information on supplied by the company equipment for experiments on laboratory animals, the company Data Science International (USA) shown its method of using an implantable telemetry technology for monitoring and collecting data on laboratory animals during experiments.
     The proceedings of the conference were published.
